We make this recipe probably weekly at this point. I remember growing up thinking "yuck! Not meatballs, or meatloaf." Now as a mom of three young boys, I am blown away by how much they LOVE these! I change this recipe up often but this is basically what I do every time. It is seriously an easy weeknight meal, and so filling for all of us.
Meatballs with Red sauce
Ingredients
For Meatballs:
1 lb ground sausage of choice, I use jimmy dean all natural
1 lb ground beef of choice
1/2 cup chopped white onion
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup milk, I use raw milk, but whole milk would be great too!
1 large egg
1 TBSP minced garlic
1/2 TSP oregano
1/2 TSP garlic powder
1/2 TSP Italian seasoning
1/2 TSP onion powder
1 TBSP dijon mustard
fresh ground salt, and pepper
Optional: Add about 1/2 cup bread crumbs, if I do this I use homemade Kamut bread crumbs, and it totally makes them amazing
Sauce:
1 cup ketchup, I love primal unsweetened
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 TBSP white vinegar
salt, pepper
Instructions:
Meatballs:
1.) Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
2.) Add all ingredients to a large bowl. Mix all together- I just use my hands for this.
3.) Make a good size ball. Place all in a lined casserole dish.
Sauce:
1.) Mix all together in a small bowl.
Add sauce over each meatball
Cook for about 30-40 minutes, until reach internal temp of 165
Add fresh Parmesan to the top, and enjoy!
